So, you have a multiplayer server with the Extra Wands Mod. But how is that useful in PvP? Well, let me tell you. This is part mod review, part PvP guide.

Scale of Overpoweredness[]

If you haven't seen one of these guides before, I give everything a rating on a scale of 0 to 10. Here's what each thing means. Note: Armor always means a full set in this table.

0 = None The item can't actually be used in PvP. This includes things like dyes and jukeboxes.
1 = Very Low The item can be used in PvP, but it is easily outclassed by most other items. A wooden sword is Very Low.
2 = Low The item would allow you to defend yourself against lightly armed opponents, but you probably shouldn't attack with only Low items. This includes leather armor and stone swords.
3 = Low-Medium The item has some power, but it isn't really super amazing on its own. This includes a regular iron sword and gold armor.
4 = Medium You can probably win some battles with just a medium item. This includes iron armor and a diamond sword.
5 = Medium-High The item is actually very decent in PvP. Very few vanilla items are ranked higher than this. This includes enchanted diamond swords or normal diamond armor.
6 = High The item is very powerful, bordering on OP in most cases. Examples include highly enchanted diamond swords or enchanted diamond armor.
7 = High-Very High The item is what many would call overpowered. However, it is not gamebreaking. This includes maxed out diamond swords (such as the "Lucky" sword from Lucky Blocks) or highly enchanted diamond armor.
8 = Very High The item is more powerful than anything in Vanilla. It is not generally gamebreaking, but it is VERY overpowered.
9 = Extreme This sort of thing comes up very rarely, and will allow you to dominate your enemies. This is the highest level a one-shot can achieve.
10 = Gamebreaking This sort of thing could get you banned from the server if you use it too much, because it quite literally is gamebreaking, and that is a term I do not use lightly.

Essence Gems[]

These are extremely expensive materials. You need to put 8 diamond blocks around a nether star to get five. Then, you must craft a basic wand. This will need 6 diamonds, 2 obsidian, and one essence gem. The basic wand doesn't do anything, though. Instead, you must craft it with another essence gem an an item that varies between wands. There is also a strong version of each wand, which needs a further 6 blocks of diamond and 2 essence gems. All wands use their abilities on a right-click, and all wands have infinite durability.

Wands[]

Time wand[]

This wand requires a clock as the varying item. It moves the day 1000 ticks forward (that's my guess, anyway). The strong version moves it 6000 ticks forward. The regular time wand could be used to change the time to night to set mobs upon your opponent and block their visibility, but it just takes so long that I don't see the point. The strong one goes much faster, but this is a very chancy benefit that can easily turn against you. The time wand only gets a 1, while the strong version gets a 2.

Light wand[]

The varying item is glowstone here. The regular wand gives you Night Vision for 10 seconds, while the strong one gives it for 50.

I think it's difficult in combat to switch back to a non-combat item every ten seconds to retain your buff, even if it is useful, so the regular wand only gets a 3. The strong one, however, requires much less switching, and you may defeat an opponent within a single right-click. This gets a 5 in my book, since it's powerful but only has a benefit at night or in a cave. Surprise attacks, anyone?

Arrow wand[]

The item is an arrow, obviously, since this wand may shoot max-power arrows for 9 damage on a right-click without charging. It also does not consume arrows. The strong version deals 15 damage and sets the opponent on fire. There is also a third level. You simply craft the strong arrow wand with the strong recipe again. This wand zooms in, deals 28 damage, and sets opponents on fire.

The regular arrow wand is basically a bow with all of its weaknesses removed. For that alone, this bow has an instant 7, and it's a high 7 at that. The strong one has such high damage potential that it gets an 8. The sniper one is extremely powerful, strong enough for a 9.
